Early in the morning the thermometer in Akureyri showed -4 degrees Celsius, but despite the cold, we had a fantastic day of whalewatching today in Eyjafjörður. We have had clear skies, flat seas and in general a fantastic weather, and in our morning trip we saw 2 beautiful Minke Whales, and soon after some Harbor porpoises. We did our best to find humpbacks, but instead of that we found a Harbor seal popping out of the water. In our afternoon trip we took a glance to the same Minkes, but we decided to try our luck and keep sailing north. And it was a good call: we found our beloved Humpback Whale Iskona. But the show got even better when this whale decided to open its mouth and show us its baleen plates! Definitely a day we will always remember.
