Dolphinatley a delightful day, the fjord was flat and there was very little wind. And it really didn´t take us very long to find our cetaceans today. On our way out we spotted a rather large pod of 15+ white-beaked dolphins which thrilled us with some beautiful surfacings and even a few leaps and jumps here and there. There were many calves in the pod today, which was truly wonderful to witness as the baby dolphins popped up right alongside their mothers. The biggest news of the day was spotting a very special dolphin, usually encountered in Faxaflói bay in the south, this individual with calf in tow decided to enjoy the area of Eyjafjörður. ‘Large Nick’ as she is called has been seen every year since 2012 and since 2015 has been spotted with a calf every summer! After getting a fantastic look at the dolphins we headed further out and found a wonderful humpback whale who delighted us further with some incredibly close encounters and seemed to be rather curious about our boat and came to check us out and went for marvelous dives right next to us. Simply Incredible!
