Usually we go out full of hope for great sightings and amazing encounters with wildlife coming back to the harbour full of excitment and energy. Today we came across a disturbing sighting. We found a Humpback whale with a wound in front of his dorsal fin coming from a misplaces research tag. We investigated how this could possibly happen and unfortunately things like this can happen especially when people don’t cooperate with each other. The research was ordered by HAFRO, a national institution and accordind to our sources it meant to track the whales to follow them to their feeding grounds outside Iceland. It’s a great source of information for fish migration. Unfortunately the tag was misplaced causing whale a big wound around the tag. We reported what we saw and hope for the best for the whale.
