What a day! 5 Humpback whales on the tour and insanely close encounters! We also spotted a lot more blows towards north, but with conditions we had, we stayed around the 5 that were simply circling us. We sailed out under cloudy sky, having a bit challenging wind conditions. It took us about 40min to find our first whale and from that point it was just getting better and better. The highlight of the tour was a moment when two humpback whales swam towards each other and passed by each almost like dancing! One of our whales today also did something very funny, as he was pushing a Guillemot out of the water! Poor bird was either not aware of the whale coming up or simply a bit scared - but we had a very enjoyable moment watching how delicately the whale approached the bird from the back and made it jump out of the water twice! If anyone captured that on the video we would really appreciate sharing this footage. We also had some new visitors today and Stefan from California came up with a name idea - “Petaluma” which means a windy valley - perfectly suited for conditions we had today.
