A beautiful winter tour today! We sailed out from a fish hourbour today - as the amount of ice in Pollurinn was far beyond our expectations. Christmas time is not always easy with logistics of transportation - there was no bus operators that could help us move the passengers in very snowy Akureyri but we managed to get enough taxis to help everyone reach the right location and it was so worth it! The weather was much better than yesterday and we sailed out in beautiful light of early sunrise all the way to east of Hrisey to find 3 Humpback whales!! The first enocounter was just incredible - as just as we arrived the whales were heading towards us, they passed just 2m away from the front of the boat! We stayed in the area having several close encounters, the whales were active and feeding and as we were there we had a phonecall of one more whale further in the distance. We had such a great show we didn’t leave the area and with the permission of everyone on board we actually stayed a bit longer. Wonderful day out there!
