What a day out there!! Today we sailed out in a bit challenging conditions - it was a very cold morning and spots of ice caused by fresh water coming into the fjord from the mountains were popping up along the way almost for the half of our sailing journey. We headed towards north optimistic, the landscape covered in the snow was just stunning! As we sailed out, the sea was not very calm and we got a lot of cold splashes on the way but once we got closer to Hrisey Island we spotted 2 Humpback whales! Shortly enough, it became very clear that the whales are surface feeding - our fishfinder was going crazy over the amount of fish ar 20-30m depth so we had the incredible opportunity to see the whales coming up to the surface with mouths full of water, very frequently but diving not to deep and quite fast. One individual was the “lazy fluker” - most likely the same one from the last tour, the other one is a new visitor in the area! It’s always exciting to see new individuals coming in and we are so very curious of how long he will stay in!
