Hello all! This morning the sun came out to meet us as we sailed out of Akureyri's harbour on the first tour of the day. To our surprise, and even though we had perfect spotting conditions, it appeared as all our dearest whale friends were gone. We felt our hearts aching, and made the decision on the spot to keep sailing north. And there it was, 66 degrees north and past Hrísey: Shalom, our friend, the humpback whale. As usual, it was busy feeding and quite unbothered by our presence. Little did this whale know how we longed to find it! Later in the day, during our afternoon tours, we didn’t need to go so far. We stayed right at our backyard, delighted at the sight of Astra, one of our minke whales. What a day!
