Fantastic tour with 4 Humpback whales today! Today we sailed out under a cloudy sky with a bit of southern wind pushing us towards north. Not far from Akureyri we got a phone call of a sighting of a Humpback whale seen close by Hrisey Island so we aimed there on full speed. Once we get closer to the area we spotted first blow on the horizon and it was not just one but 3 Humpback whales together and if it couldn´t get more exciting as among the group we spotted one of our favourites! Arheta Frankfin is back and she was clearly in a good mood today. It is another winter we see this whale and again around January! She was going for a dive as the last one from the group and in the group we recognized one more frequent visitor of our tours lately - Prince Charles is here! or as he is called in the international catalogues ‘Voldemort’ - perhaps we will consider changing that name as it doesn´t go too well together.. The third whale stays unidentified for now and maybe needs a name! We will surely keep you updated. The 4th one was not part of the group but frequently coming to the surface not too far from us. It was a tour of incredible encounters and very curious whales - fantastic day out there!
