What a great afternoon in Eyjafjörður! We went out today with some southern wind, but with overall good conditions and visibility.
Just as we passed Hauganes, we spotted the first blow in the distance. This blow was joined by several more in the same direction and once we got a little closer, we actually counted five different Humpback Whales! They resurfaced around us several times and came up to the surface right next to our boat a few times! This was just spectacular and we got to watch these curious Humpback Whales from close-up.
In the beginning, they resurfaced all at the same time and we even saw them all swimming in one line at some point, going for deep dives one after the other. But a little later their surfacing times shifted a bit and we got to watch two of them swimming together in a pair while the other three Humpback Whales stayed together as well. They still all stayed in the same area around our boat though.
It was an exciting tour with great encounters with these five Humpback Whales!
