What a day here in Eyjafjörður! We sailed out in very good weather conditions with calm waters and very good visibility.
We spotted the first blow just south of Hrísey! As we approached carefully, we saw this whale resurfacing several times and identified, that we were actually watching a FINWHALE! Wow! We were thrilled and got to watch this Finwhale east of Hrísey as it came up to the surface around our boat in order to breathe, staying in the same area throughout the encounter and never letting us wait for more than a few minutes until it resurfaced again.
It was a stunning encounter and super special, since we do not see Finwhales in our fjord too often.
On our way back to Akureyri, we spotted a Seal, lying on a small piece of ice, as well as a pod of Harbour Porpoises!
What an incredibly beautiful day in our fjord. We are excited to sail out on our next tours!
