What an absolutely gorgeous day we've had! Like we say in Finland, the weather was like a bride; stunningly beautiful. The sun shone from clear skies, the wind was nowhere to be seen and the sea was calm. What else can you need? Well Humpback whales of course! We had several nice encounters, some kindly coming very close to us. We could see the humpback in all of its glory: from the tip of the head all the way to the end of the fluke, not forgetting the stunning pectoral fins which colour the sea turquoise in the place they glide in. They have truly deserved the nickname ”Angels of the sea”. We saw humpbacks in several spots along the fjord, which makes us happy to know that there are plenty of whales enjoying their days here, filling their tummies with the buffet that is Eyjafjördur.

Elsewhere further North in the fjord, we also encountered a Minkie Whale, tens and tens of Harbour Porpoises and at least another 10 Humpback Whales. How you like them apples.
