We sailed out with some western wind today and small waves in Eyjafjörður. Overall, we had good and sunny weather conditions.
North of Svalbarðseyri, we spotted a blow and were reunited with Jóli, our Christmas Humpback Whale!
We had not seen this Humpback Whale yet this year. And despite longer deep dives, we got to observe it very well and had several very close encounters, with the whale lifting its fluke just in front of our boat!
We went a bit further out after a while to continue our search. To our surprise we spotted a second Humpback Whale as well as a few Harbor Porpoises just as we entered the harbor of Akureyri again! This Humpback had shorter deep dives of only a few minutes at a time and we got to watch it resurface several times as well! What an absolutely amazing way to end a tour like this just outside of our harbor!
