There was some southern wind today, creating smaller waves during our tour. Overall, we had good weather conditions.
By Hauganes, we spotted blows! We encountered five Humpback Whales today. One was swimming a bit north of us, but we could regularly spot the blow in the distance. We had great, close encounters with the other four Humpbacks, swimming in two pairs!
We were very lucky having them very close to us, each of the pairs coming up at different times, which means we hardly had to wait in between encounters at some point! The Humpback Whale pairs spread out a bit later on, putting a little more distance between them, while they all remained in the area.
We observed them resurface multiple times before sailing back to Akureyri, very happy with today’s Humpback encounters in Eyjafjörður.
