The conditions were good today, with calm weather and only very small waves due to a little wind in the fjord as we sailed out.
On our way, we encountered one big pod of White-beaked Dolphins by Hjalteyri. What a great surprise! They kept us company for a bit, resurfacing all around us and were even playing in our boat’s waves for a moment. We decided to sail out further, where this great first encounter with cetaceans was followed by at least 13 Humpback Whales north of Hauganes. We spotted one group of three Humpbacks together and we saw a few singular blows in the distance. There were absolutely stunning encounters with a group of eight Humpbacks, which were swimming together! Everyone was left speechless and we had an unbelievable view from Konsúll as these eight Humpback Whales went for their deep dives one after the other right in front of us! Mesmerizing to say the least.
