Today the wind calmed down a lot and we were lucky to have perfect sailing conditions in the whole fjord. We didn’t see the sun, but who does at this time of the year.
After sailing for a few minutes we already saw a few Harbour Porpoises, and then even more throughout the tour later.
South east of Hrisey, we then spotted not only one blow but countless. Getting closer we realised that there was a group of 10 Humpback Whales. Even I haven’t seen a group that big. But that’s not it. There were more groups, one of 5 another one of 4 and more in the distance. At some point we were surrounded by countless whales, but I believe it was 17 - 20 Humpback Whales just around us. Who would have thought the feeding ground would beat the breeding grounds at this time of the year.
Therefore skip the shorts and bring a jacket.
