As the new week arrives, we are stoked to see what is to come. This is the proper summer we have all been waiting for and some of us think that is it even too warm, although there is always a little breeze to cool us down.

In the morning we had a chance to see some picturesque views with nearly no waves. Wonderful time to watch some cetaceans. As we smoothly sail on through the fjord, we got to see a spectacular phenomenon by the green buoy. The river braids meet the see over here and there was so much sediment coming in, that the color of the water changed from dark navy blue to a completely brown tinted water smelling of soil.

A little bit further just a kilometer or two away from Hjalteyri, we finally found what we were looking for. 4 Humpback Whales actively feeding in the same spot. We have shut the engines off and fully enjoyed the sound of the blows all around us.

We sailed back and inspired by the feeding frenzy, we took a quick lunch just to jump energetically back on board and see some more of these beautiful creatures. When we were arriving to the previous location, we overheard on the radio, that there is maybe
10 Humpback Whales further north just East of Hrísey, so we took a just little peak at those Humpback Whales from our morning tour and kept going. As we arrived there, we have witnessed jaw-dropping scenery. Nearly no wind has calmed the sea and we were just floating between hundreds of birds and up to a dozen whales. Most of them lunging from time to time to fill their bellies with some sweet krill. And believe it or not we also had a “half-breaching” Minke Whale as described by one of our captains right in front of the boat around the same area.

On the way back some of the lucky passengers also spotted couple of Harbour Porpoises. And one more Minke whale just by Svalbarðseyri.

Evening is coming and we wonder if this can get any better.
