Today, we set sail with the wind from the south, followed by a mix of sunshine and snow, all in the span of a few hours. This is Icelandic weather at its finest! The unpredictable shifts in conditions are just part of the charm here. In some countries, such changes are considered typical April weather, but in Iceland, this is the reality year-round.

Last year, we had heavy snowfall in May, and just two years ago, we experienced -4°C for two weeks in August—quite chilly for the summer, don't you think? You never really know what the weather will throw at you in this part of the world, and that’s what makes it so exciting.

Today, we had the wind at our backs, which made for a pleasant ride as we sailed towards the northeast of Hrisey. Our mission was to find some whales. Of course, we started the search right away, but we had heard from another company that they'd spotted some whales near Hrisey, so we decided to head that direction as well. Despite our best efforts and a detailed search, the nature didn’t reveal any blows or sightings of whales today. Sometimes, that’s just the way it is with nature—it’s unpredictable.

But even though we didn’t spot any whales, the guests were still in great spirits. The waves were swaying gently, and some of our guests had fun jumping along with the rhythm of the water. By the end of the tour, the waves had calmed down. A few guests, lulled by the gentle rocking, even dozed off and enjoyed a peaceful nap.

The beauty of nature is that we never know what it will show us. Whether it’s snow, sunshine, or a whale sighting, it keeps us on our toes. We gave it our best shot today, and while the whales didn’t show themselves, there’s always tomorrow. Who knows what we’ll encounter next time?

Until then, we continue to embrace the wonders of the Icelandic waters, where the weather and wildlife are as unpredictable as they are awe-inspiring.
