While the rest of the country was dealing with the aftermaths of a quite big storm, we here around the Eyjafjord could enjoy sunshine and almost no clouds today. Still we could feel the wind blowing quite strongly from the Southeast so there was some movement on the Rib boat today. Only 10 minutes after we had left Akureyri harbour we spotted our first blow. It turned out to be King Louis and not far away we spotted Dark Knight. They seemed to be both going their own ways so we soon went further out to see what else we could find. And we ended up finding Frankenstein, Mariner and 3 musketeers. So a total of 7 humpbacks this afternoon in the fjord! Our highlight happened towards the end of the tour when we had turned off the engines and all 3 musketeers decided to go for a deep dive only 1-2 meters away from the boat. Wow these flukes are really giant if you get to see them so up close. A very impressive and fascinating encounter and a great afternoon out in Eyjafjördur.
