The typical autumn weather is still staying in the fjord with cold winds blowing from the north and low clouds hanging in the mountains that cause heavy rains from time to time. Once again we found brave sailors to join us to embark on a journey to battel the elements while looking for cetaceans. It actually turned out to be a lot of fun to sway with the motion of the ocean and half way between Hjalteyri and Grenivik we found Jackson the well-known humpback whale. We got to enjoy it coming up right next to the boat and after a while we finally go to see its gorgeous and significant fluke. Jackson’s fluke is almost all white with a big black dot on one side. Battling the elements was definitely worth to spend some quality time with this humpback whale. The forecast for tomorrow looks stormy but we are hoping that the mountains around Eyjafjördur will provide enough shelter so that we can go out on the 13:00 tour.
