The freezing cold that has been laying over the fjord last days finally gave in. We sailed from Akureyri harbor at 11 o‘ clock ready for our adventure. On this last day of the year we had to sail through Eyjafjörður all the way to Ólafsfjarðarmúli with out a spotting a whale, but as we turned around looking for cetaceans sailing back in the fjord we encountered four humpback whales close to Hjalteyri and they gave us quite the show coming up regularly and entertained us with their beautiful fluke. Close to Hjalteyri we sailed through sea ice that was covering the fjord, the ice came from Fnjóská a river that runs into the fjord. A long day but successful yet again here in Eyjafjörður.
