A wonderful winter day with some wonderful whales. Only 20 minutes after leaving harbour we managed to locate two humpback whales. Our regular Aretha Frankfin and the new one with the most beautiful white fluke. These whales were actually swimming and surfacing together, a rarity in Icelandic whale behaviour. This wonderful duo surfaced many times and each time brought us closer to our harbour town of Akureyri. After watching these whales for some time we went to checkout the magnificent geothermal waterfall. Which was just picture perfect, the surrounding covered in a thick layer of snow and ice, yet the waterfall was flowing at full velocity and issuing a cloud of warm steam which warmed our cold faces.
