Cold and cloudy morning in Akureyri looked very promising as about 2 hours before departure we were observing a Humpback whale just in the harbour area. The wind had picked up quite strongly and we headed out north on a bumpy sea, hoping for the greatest sightings. We spotted the first whale just outside the industrial area of Akureyri. We’ve seen thhe tail going down and no whale for a longer time so we decided to head out north where we found an actively feeding Minke whale! He was changing directions a lot and was difficult to follow so we left him. On our way back we found a Humpback whale and were able to see him few times but always with a distance. All whales were difficult to follow today due to rough seas and not the greatest weather so we decided to give complimentary tickets to all our passengers.
