Another stunning tour in the fjord outside of Akureyri and even more whales! Today we started the tour from spotting a Minke whale. We waited for him for 10 minutes and couldn’t find him again, it was a very sunny day and the reflection in the sea could make us miss him so we headed out north and spotted 2 Humpback whales! It was Ronja & Rosa and Rosa at some point came very close to us, passing by the boat just a meter away! We stayed in the area and third whale joined the two, there was almost no time for talking as one whale was popping after the other and it was simply incredible. We spotted 3 more whales around us in the distance of 100-300 meters, and while approaching two of them we spotted even more blows and one very close to the coastline. All together we’ve seen at least 7 individuals but there was surely more of them. The fjord is filled with whales!
