What a day to return to the fjord! Our day started off with some wintry snow, even though its the middle of June, but luckily it quickly cleared up. The wind was also forecast to be quite strong but that was not the case as it was just a bit breezy and the sea lovely and flat for most of the day. On our morning tour we were delighted by not one but two minke whales popping up and showing their beautiful streamlined forms. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly our friendly humpback whale, who surprised us with numerous close encounters, some exceptional lunge feeding and was even chilling along side our boat at one point. With engines off we got to enjoy this spectacular encounter with a very special individual. Our afternoon tour followed in the same manor with even more wonderful encounters with this amazing humpback whale. Our midnight tour again excelled expectations with not one but two wonderful humpbacks. A wonderful welcome back from Eyjafjörður!
