A bit of a wild day out on the fjord today. It was sunny but a little windy, nothing to dramatic but enough to make spotting a bit difficult. Regardless in the morning we found a wonderful humpback whale with a very unusual tail. It surfaced quite a few times showing us its lovely tail and came up rather close at one point which was very exciting. Our afternoon tour wasn´t so lucky, the wind had picked up a bit more and unfortunately no larger whales were seen so complimentary tickets were given out to passengers. Our evening tour however, stole the spotlight for the day. Not only was the fjord draped in the most beautiful golden light but we spotted a huge pod of pilot whales! A super rare species to see in our fjord, one we only see every few years! There was about 30 of them all spread out coming up wonderfully and showing their beautifully shaped flukes now and then. After watching these amazing animals for a while we headed out and found ourselves a minke whale that first surfaced just a few minutes from the boat. Which was just incredible! What an end to the day!
