Another beautiful summer day in the fjord! This morning we went out on two tours again, one on the Classic boat and the other on the Express and both tours had incredibly rare sighting of a sleeping Humpback whale! We are in the middle of the feeding season for them and during that time they have to eat about a tone of food per day, so it is a very time taking process as they feed on plankton, krill and small fish and it is incredibly rare to come across a small window of time in the day when the whale is actually resting. We didn’t see the tail coming out of the water but the whale was staying close by the surface and coming up very frequently. In the afternoon we found the same whale, but no longer sleeping, he was a lot more active but still very relaxed.
