Adventurous day in the fjord! This morning we sailed out from Akureyri and found amazingly relaxed 2 Humpback whales and a pod of white beaked dolphins! We finished the tour in Dalvik as the sightings have been really far out and we had an engine problem on the way back. The tour at 13:00 had to be cancelled as our boat was not ready to go but we were happy that most of our guests scheduled for this departure was able to join us another time. The wind picked up even more and afternoon Express tour was not able to reach the sighting area, the boat had to turn back in the middle of the fjord as the swell was a lot higher than what we were expecting from the forecast so all our passengers were given complimentary tickets. The last tour of the day was challenging, we had strong winds crossing from the North and East, it took us a long time to reach the sighting area but it was truly worth it! We’ve seen at least 4 Humpback whales and there were few more in the distance and on our way back we found again a very playful pod of dolphins. We ended the tour in Dalvik and arranged the transport for everyone back to Akureyri.
