Hello there! This morning, we sailed out on a calm but in most places fog covered fjord. The fog lifted before our afternoon tour and we had a cold, but sunny tour!
On our morning tour, we saw five Humpback Whales north of Hauganes. We found several spots where the fog was already mostly lifted and we got to encounter these beautiful Humpback Whales with several nice and close encounters!
In the afternoon, we spotted several Minke Whales south of Hjalteyri as well as a bit further north, in total we saw at least four different Minke Whales on this tour, including a brief look at a feeding Minke very close to our boat on the way back to Akureyri! North of Hauganes we encountered at least 10 Humpback Whales all around the area, calmly surfacing over and over again. We even had a few very close encounters with some of these Humpback Whales as they surfaced right next to our boat! It was absolutely stunning!
Our RIB boat saw three Minke Whales and three Humpback Whales around the green buoy in the afternoon. What a beautiful day here in Eyjafjörður!
