Today we sailed out only in the afternoon, but it was such a great decision as the fjord was flat as a mirror and the sunny weather was spoiling us all the way. We were sailing less than 30min when we came a cross a big pod of Harbour Porpoises! These cute animals look a bit like baby dolphins but actually dolphins and porpoises are two different species. First we spotted a small group of 5-7 individuals but we decided to stop and we spotted another one of 10-15 individuals. These are the smallest cetaceans we have in the fjord and it was a pleasure to watch them frequently coming to the surface but after a while we decided to sail out north to see if we can find something bigger. Unfortunately we didn’t, but we’ve seen a lot of birdlife including Gannets, Common Loons, Black guillemots, Iceland Gulls and Fulmars. Everyone was given a complimentary ticket and got invited to join us again for free here in Akureyri or in Reykjavik.
