As I entered the office post tour today I was posed a simple question, “Do you want to see a surfing Humpback ?”, I mean is that even a question…. Rough weather lead to some exhilarating rides out and some fascinating behaviors from the whales. The express tour sighted a whale who (perhaps after chats with some Hawaiian humpbacks) skated across a wave shortly after surfacing. Furthermore they got to smell whale breath with another Humpback open mouth feeding less than a meter from the RIB. Our morning classic tour encountered our good friend Barney the Humpback. Barney was clearly happy to see us rolling in the water and giving a wave with his pectoral fin. Despite the tricky spotting conditions all tours saw whale blow and tons of Puffins coming in to the fjord on the cold artic wind.
