Hello there, nature lovers! It was indeed a whaletastic day in Eyjafjörður. We sailed off Akureyri harbour in a very cold but very clear day. We started by worming up with some extra cute Harbour porpoises just by Hjalteyri, but we kept sailing on in search of larger sightings. And so we did! Because shortly after, just in between Hauganes and Grenivik we spotted a blow being carried out by the wind. So, we waited for it to surface again, and surprise, surprise it was not one but two Humpback whales! Shyly surfacing between the waves until BAM!! One of them starts tail lobbing like crazy. And Oh Man! What a show our friend “Barnacle Stinson” was putting on, it was an uninterrupted show of almost 30min of tail slapping and also inverted tail slapping with also some pec-slapping in between. This indeed is going to be a day to remember for many passengers!
