Hello everybody! Thanks to having a flat sea and some sun beams along with clouds, we were able to spot some animals that allowed us to enjoy a complete day in all senses in Eyjafjordur waters.

At the beginning of the day, we thought that our friendly whales became shy owing to their lack of presence but it was just matter of time; the first sighting we experimented was from a Minke whale located next to Hjalteyri. This animal was seen eating in shallow waters by the town for about 20 min, then it disappeared gently. Once we started to head to Akureyri, Hólmasol sighted another individual of the same kind, summing 2 individuals up. In the afternoon, we had the blessing to sight a new Humpback whale individual next to Hrísey. This animal was really curious about our RIB boat; it even surfaced its flippers! This new member of our wild family will be identified and named over the following days by pictures that our crew will be taking and analysing by photo ID activities.

To sum up, we have seen today 2 minke whales and one humpback whale. We can not wait for tomorrow!
