Góðan daginn! Today was a really busy day for our team, and just in time for the first day of sun after almost 2 weeks of rain and strong winds! But the day actually didn’t start looking all that good. As we sailed out of Akureyri during the morning tours, a thick layer of fog was firmly sitting above the surrounding landscape. Even tough it was not possible to sight a single bit of land, visibility was of a few hundred meters and good enough for us to spot some whales. Between Hjalteyri and Hauganes, there they were, our dear Eyjafjörður humpback whales! Three of them, in relative close proximity to each other. The first appeared to be sleeping so it was not long until we moved away and spotted the other two blowing in between the choppy northern swell. We were even as lucky as to spot a chin slap!
