Today, we sailed into a very snowy fjord.
Northeast of Hjalteyri, we encountered a total of four Humpback Whales! Three of them were swimming and surfacing together! A number of times, they surfaced very close to us as well as approached our boat and we felt really lucky, because we were able to see them this well. What a beautiful encounter today!
A few times, all four of them were up at the surface at the same time, but mostly it was the group of three surfacing together while the fourth Humpback Whale came up for breaths individually. So we didn’t have to wait too long for either of them to come back to the surface in between their deep dives.
