Today we have cheerfully boarded the boat in accompaniment of Christmas songs of Fidrik’s choice, despite the windy and snowy morning that greeted us with darkness and cold. The first sighting of the day happened already in the harbour before we left the dock! A Humpback whale appeared in Polurinn and everyone on board could see it. We sailed out looking for him with no luck so we sailed out north and just north of the shipyard of Akureyri we found the whale calmly surfacing in the area. The wind was picking up and the snowfall was narrowing the visibility in the area so we stayed with this whale throughout the whole tour. Lots of great encounters despite the difficult weather.
