What a fantastic day! We sailed out today for our tour in cold, snowy conditions and there was some wind as well as swell as we passed the green buoy. After passing Grenivík, the wind got less and the conditions improved.
We were super lucky today as we spotted three Humpback Whales east of Hrísey! They were pretty curious and came to check us out. These three Humpbacks resurfaced calmly in our area over and over again and even came up for their breaths right next to our boat a number of times! Wow!
We already thought this was an amazing tour with great encounters here in Eyjafjörður, when we encountered two more Humpback Whales on the way back to Akureyri just south of Hjalteyri! What a surprise!
In total, we saw five different Humpback Whales on our tour today, it was truly incredible.
