Hello readers of the blog
The weather began with clear skies and a mirrorlike sea, providing a breathtaking view. The wind picked up slightly throughout the day but not this was not enough to hamper our ability to spot the cetaceans.
Our first awe-inspiring encounter took place just past Svalbarðseyri, where we were greeted by a magnificent Minkie whale. It spent plenty of time at the surface, popping up in all directions leaving our passengers unsure which direction to look. As we continued our adventure, we were treated to another Minkie and the mesmerizing sight of 2 Humpback whales, one of them breaching and pec slapping in the distance. We eventually reached the whale North Hrisey where they showcased its impressive fluke several times, however, did not breach again. The power and grace displayed by this gentle giant of the sea was truly unforgettable. Our day in the fjord was nothing short of fantastic and the numerous Harbour porpoises that we found all over was the cherry on top!
