The visibility started pretty poor in the morning with heavy snow and low visibility. This improved into the afternoon, however, contrary to the forecast we experienced a southern wind instead of the predicted strong northern wind.
We saw many Humpback Whales throughout the day. In the morning these encounters came in the area between the Green Buoy and Hjalteyri; and in the afternoon the whales had moved to Rauðavik. We estimated the total number of whales to be in the region of 10-12. We also encountered a group of Humpbacks, 5 in total. This was one of the first times this year I have seen a group of whales, swimming and diving together and we had some great encounters with them as they turned and approached our boat several times.
