Today, it was windy in our fjord and we had some swell. But overall, the sailing conditions were alright and we even got to watch a gorgeous sunrise in the morning.
It was the first day with two tours of this year!
Excitedly, we sailed out on the morning tour and scanned the fjord thoroughly. We sailed out all the way north of Hrísey and unfortunately, we did not spot any cetaceans on this tour. Instead, we of course offered all of our passengers to join us again in the next two years with a complimentary ticket!
In the afternoon, we actually encountered one Humpback Whale east of Hrísey! What a surprise! We had very nice and close encounters with this Humpback, as it for example came up right by our boat. We could even see its pectoral fins through the water surface!
This perfectly proves, that nature is always good for a surprise, that it is always worth it to keep searching and that we of course always have to keep in mind, that we are trying to watch wild animals here in nature!
