Yet another great day for whale watching in Akureyri.

In the morning we had low clouds and the temperature was colder than the previous few sunny days. The weather didn’t effect the whales however, as we saw our first Humpback just north of Pollurinn. We ended up seeing three different Humpbacks and one Minke Whale.

In the afternoon, we were fortunate to see a very active Minke Whale just south of Hjalteyri that was lunge feeding. The Minke lunged a few times, giving us a good show and a view of it´s pectoral fins and the side of the body. The Arctic Skuas were also very active today stealing food from the Arctic Terns right above us. On our way back to Akureyri we saw a pod of Harbour Porpoises too. It was a great day on the Fjord with some exciting behaviour!

on our 1700 tour tour we were lucky enough to see all the above mentioned species including 3 Minke Whales and 4 plus Humpback Whales with the addition of a large pod of White Beaked Dolphins all between Hjalteyri and Grenivik
