Despite an open sunny sky and very little wind in Akureyri, there was a slight Northern breeze in the fjord creating medium sized waves.
We headed straight out to Hjalteyri, where there has been much activity in recent days, and here we encountered 3 Humpback Whales all fairly close to the town. The whales were diving for approximately 5 minutes each and surfacing at a range of distances. In addition to this, we also spotted 2 Minke Whales in the same area.
