Good day!

Today we got to enjoy some clouds after a few days of sun. We got some rain as well to give some character to our tours for today. The sea was relatively calm with some small waves, especially towards the afternoon.

On the morning tour we saw something incredible! Krill was floating at the surface North of Hjalteyri and that made a certain Humpback whale very excited! It surface fed and lunge fed several times around us, following the trail of Krill. Further away we could see three more Humpback whales diving down, showing their beautiful flukes.

The excitement didn’t end in the afternoon. When we came to the North of Hjalteyri we were greeted by a Humpback whale. After we saw it come up another time we went towards east to look at another Humpback whale. Who would have guessed that when we turned around again, next to Hjalteyri a whale breached! It breached a couple more times. If that wasn’t amazing enough, it graciously gave us a better look at its tail and pectoral fins by doing some tail throws and pectoral fin slaps.

Today has been truly magical and the whales gave us their best. Makes us truly appreciate the whales even more, if that is even possible.
