We had another great day in our fjord. Today, we sailed out with calm weather conditions and low hanging clouds.
On our morning tour, we encountered Harbor Porpoises in various locations while sailing and one Humpback Whale by Grenivik!
On our afternoon tours, we spotted two Humpback Whales around the green buoy. One of them was our beloved Piccolo! Our RIB boat encountered Piccolo first a bit south of the buoy, swimming north. In a shocking discovery, we saw fishing line entangled around the tail of this whale! This is always a heartbreaking sight, even though this happens to a majority of whales during their lives. While Piccolo headed north, the fishing line fortunately became loose and it was towards the end of the tour, that we saw Piccolo joining the other Humpback north of the green buoy, where we could see them swimming and resurfacing together! The fishing line was no longer seen around the tail and we were super happy about these developments in such a short time span. Lucky Piccolo!
This is a great reminder for all of us to take better care of our trash, to never leave any trash in nature or the ocean and to be mindful about our surroundings as well as what we leave behind. We can all do our part and help keep our ocean clean!

Little update to this incredible story that happened today:

Piccolo with the yellowish buoy attached to it at the beginning of the tour- the picture is a bit blurry (last picture of the series) but you can see the fishing equipment partially in the picture, when this happened we could many times hear the whale trumpeting from afar, it sounded very helpless and it felt so sad to hear this over and over, a stone dropped of our hearts when we found out, that it came off and then we got to see Piccolo uniting with another whale as described before and they pulled a crazy show - double lunge feeding, that literally looked like a celebration of getting out of this messy situation.
