The weather in the fjord today was fairly chilled. It was sunny, but a slight southern wind made our return journeys feel a little more windy.

We didn’t have to sail as far as previous days to encounter our marine mammal buddies today, just to the area between the Green Buoy and Hjalteyri. Here, we saw 4 Humpback Whales probably in the region of 10 individuals, however, spread out across the whole area. Mixed encounters were had, ranging in the distance they came to the boat but the situation allowed us to remain mostly motionless and allow the whales to surface and come to us.

During the afternoon tours, the wind decreased and we got left with a very flat fjord, which allowed us to venture further North. And next to Grenevík we found a very large Humpback Whale, who was showing us the tail beautifully. But that was not everything! South of Hjalteyri we also encountered 3 of the Humpback Whales spotted during the morning, as well as 1 Minke Whale.

So in the end we saw 5 different Humpback Whales and 1 Minke Whale, what a whale of a day!!
