A Lucky Day with the Humpback Whale and Stratospheric Clouds

Today was one of those rare and magical days that remind us why we love the ocean. We set sail in calm weather, with a gentle south wind and a chilly 6-degree temperature. We had already received some good news — the whale was close by. No need to venture too far. And as luck would have it, we found the whale right in the harbor!

It felt almost like a special gift from the sea. It was our Humpback Whale Friend Piccolo. I was joked that maybe the whale wanted to catch a flight to warmer waters, who knows? But whatever its intentions were, one thing was clear: Piccolo was hungry. The whale was surfacing frequently, clearly searching for food, and we had the privilege of witnessing it up close.

We saw its fluke several times, a beautiful and distinct sight. But the real spectacle came when the whale's head emerged, and we could clearly see the ventral grooves along its belly. It was breathtaking! That’s when I knew: this is what I had been telling everyone about — the humpback whales feeding and showing off these incredible feeding techniques.

And as if the whale wasn’t enough, the sky added its own touch of wonder. We were treated to the rare sight of stratospheric clouds, high up in the atmosphere. Their delicate, wispy formations seemed to paint the sky, creating a surreal backdrop for our ocean adventure.

The excitement was almost too much to contain. It’s one thing to read about it or hear about it, but to see it in person, right in front of us? Unbelievable. Days like this remind me just how lucky we are to experience these magnificent creatures and stunning natural phenomena. A perfect moment to share with everyone!
