Today’s weather was cold, but calm with overall very good sailing conditions!
As we sailed towards Grenivik, we spotted two Humpback Whales, both of them showed resting behavior and had very calm and slow surfacing sequences. They came up to breathe after longer shallow dives and mostly arched their backs without lifting the flukes before another longer dive. While watching them, we had a handful of absolutely incredible encounters where they resurfaced right by our boat, leaving us speechless. Eventually, we got to see both of them lifting their tails a few times, as well.
On the way back, we got a brilliant surprise as two different Humpback Whales suddenly surfaced south of us! They were swimming together and went for their deep dives one after the other. We waited to see them one more time before continuing our journey back to Akureyri. Beautiful day with a total of four Humpbacks spotted during our tour!
