A Journey in the Frozen Wonderland

Today was one of those days that felt like magic from start to finish. We set sail with the temperature a chilly -10°C, the wind crisp and sharp, and the waves just about 0.3 meters high. The sky was a blanket of white, with the snow covering the land, creating a peaceful and serene landscape.

The joy was contagious as we sailed on, embracing the winter. Then, just east of Hrisey, we had the incredible luck of spotting a whale blow. It was the first one, and then another! We had two humpback whales swimming nearby, and the sight was nothing short of spectacular. We were lucky—the whales were surfacing often, giving us a perfect opportunity to observe their graceful movements.

As they moved through the water, one whale surfaced on one side of the boat, and the other on the opposite side. This allowed all our guests to catch a good look at these magnificent creatures. The humpbacks were heading in one direction, diving deep into the water and surfacing only for a brief moment before continuing their journey. It felt as if we were traveling with them.

We followed them for a while, enchanted by their presence, until the time came to head back to the harbor. As we made our way home, we were filled with warm memories of the experience. It’s days like these that remind us how lucky we are to witness nature’s wonders, especially in the frozen beauty of winter.
