Today, we saw a gorgeous sunrise over our fjord! The temperatures remained very cold today, but we sailed out in calm conditions. The wind picked up a bit further north inside the fjord.
After sailing past Svalbarðseyri, we were lucky enough to already spot the first Humpback Whale of the tour! Amazing, close and calm encounters with Piccolo this far inside the fjord. We truly enjoyed the encounters and were mesmerized at how loudly we could hear the breath of this whale in these perfect, calm conditions! Just stunning.
After observing this Humpback for a bit, we decided to sail further out. The wind picked up as we sailed, but we spotted another Humpback Whale just by Hjalteyri! Again, we spent some time watching this whale resurface a few times before it was time for us to start sailing back to Akureyri with the sunshine in our faces.
This was one of those beautiful winter days with a stunningly colorful sky in Iceland and we used it perfectly to watch two Humpbacks in Eyjafjörður!
