It was a chilly morning with temperatures hovering around 3°C, and a gentle breeze from the south kept the air crisp as we set sail. The excitement was palpable, especially since one of our captains had spotted some whale blow in the Pollurinn Harbor.
As we sailed into the harbor, we waited for any signs of movement, but after a while, there was no action. We decided to leave the harbor and continue our search. It wasn’t long—maybe around 25 minutes—before we saw the first spout. A blow of mist rose from the water, and we instantly recognized the familiar sign. It was our friend, Humpback Whale, Piccolo!
As we got closer, we spotted the fluke of the whale rising from the water. We knew it was time to be patient and wait for the next appearance. Piccolo seemed to be feeding, coming to the surface regularly every few minutes, showing off its stunning white fluke each time. What made it even more special was that the whale appeared in different spots, allowing everyone aboard to catch a glimpse of its beauty.
It was truly a magical experience, watching this majestic creature up close and personal. The way Piccolo moved through the water so gracefully made the chilly morning feel like a blessing. We all felt incredibly lucky to witness such an awe-inspiring moment in nature.
As the day went on, we were treated to more sightings of Piccolo's fluke, each one as breathtaking as the last. It was a reminder of the wonders that lie beneath the surface of the ocean and the incredible creatures that call it home.
