Orcas in the fjord!!
We had an amazing day, which started with seeing Orcas in Pollurinn this morning! Yes, all the way in the harbor of Akureyri, we saw Orcas from our ticket office. As unbelievable as this felt, we were able to find these seven Orcas again a few hours later on our tour. We first spotted them southwest of Grenivík, as they were swimming north quite quickly.
We had several super good encounters, seeing the Orcas close-up as they repeatedly surfaced after short deep dives while traveling further north. In this pod, we saw two males and a few females with two calves in total. Orcas live in the Icalandic waters, but only rarely come into our fjord, which made this encounter extra special!
We had an absolutely exciting afternoon in Eyjafjörður and we cannot wait for the next time we get to encounter Orcas on one of our tours.
